Hydrocoll Thin 10 x 10 cm. - Hydrocolloid wound dressing, sterile
Unit price = 10 pcs. per 1 pk.
Description/Usage.
Used for the treatment of chronic, slow-healing wounds. For example, venous leg ulcers and pressure ulcers. Also used for the treatment of second-degree burns and transplanted skin. Contraindications: Hydrocoll must not be used where bones, muscles, or tendons are exposed. Nor should it be used on clinically infected wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, fungal infections, or third-degree burns. High-risk patients such as diabetics should be monitored extra carefully when using it.
Hydrocoll is a self-adhesive, absorbent hydrocolloid dressing covered with a semi-permeable polyurethane film that prevents bacteria and fluid from penetrating. As exudate from the wound is absorbed, the hydrocolloid particles swell and form a gel that expands into the wound, keeping it moist. The gel continues to absorb until the hydrocolloid is fully saturated. The upper layer swells up and saturates when the swelling is approximately 1 cm from the edge of the dressing. The gel layer on the underside of the plate prevents Hydrocoll from adhering to the wound. The dressing can be painlessly removed without damaging the granulation and newly formed tissue. The top layer provides a secure barrier against bacteria and protects the wound from bacteria and moisture ingress. The person can bathe and shower while wearing the dressing.
Hydrocoll also protects against both UV-A and UV-B radiation from the sun. Hydrocoll thin has a lower absorption capacity (about 50%) and can be used advantageously during the epithelialization phase. During the epithelialization phase, Hydrocoll thin supports epithelium, cell division, and cell migration through the moist wound environment. This extends the dressing change intervals. However, the dressing should not be left on for longer than seven days. Control of the wound area is facilitated by the transparent plates. Both dressings, especially Hydrocoll thin, can also be used under medical supervision for occlusion treatment in various types of skin diseases.
The plates are composed of synthetic elastomers and sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC), in a matrix structure covered with a semi-permeable polyurethane film
The plate is both gelatin and rosin-free. The standard plates are 0.67 mm. thick and the Thin version is 0.37 mm. All Hydrocoll are sterile.
The product is classified as a medical device, class IIb, sterile. CE marked according to EU directive 93/42/EEC.
Can also be used as a blister patch. However, it must be cut to size.
