What is the medicinal effect of honey on a wound?:
Case studies and clinical studies have shown that the antibacterial effect is Revamil honey's most important role in the wound healing process. The antibacterial effect is primarily due to the honey's high enzyme content. In a moist wound environment, the enzyme glucose oxidase ensures a slow and prolonged release of small amounts of hydrogen peroxide. This effectively kills the bacteria without attacking the granulation tissue.
100% pure honey:
The honey in our Revamil products are 100% pure. The honey is collected from bees in an agricultural-free environment. No pesticides are used in beekeeping and in the nearby farms.
In the past, Revamil honey was produced in greenhouses. However, it was learned that this environment is not ideal for the bees as they need more space to fly. A search was therefore made for regions in the Netherlands where the bees can fly freely and where pesticides are not used - not even in the nearby farms - and where there are sufficient nectar sources.
Control of Revamil honey:
Each batch of Revamil honey is checked for residues of heavy metals and pesticides to ensure that the precautions taken are effective.
