Description

Atrauman Ag 5 x 5 cm - Wound Contact Layer/Silver Dressing

Unit Price = 1 pack of 10 pieces

Description/Application:

The purpose of the silver dressing is to prevent the dressing from adhering to the wound, making dressing changes easier for both patients and healthcare professionals. Atrauman Ag adds another dimension to the silver dressing. By adding silver, the dressing also has an antibacterial function. It works preventively against wound infections and provides local support for existing infections.

The thin and soft material is easy to apply and provides good contact with the wound area. The ointment protects the wound edges and keeps them soft. The silver in the dressing consists of metallic silver, which ionizes when it comes into contact with wound exudate. Atrauman Ag is effective against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA strains. Atrauman Ag releases small amounts of silver over an extended period (7 days) to avoid harming healthy cells that are present in the wound area, thereby delaying the healing process. The amount of silver released kills the harmful bacteria present in the wound.

As a supplementary measure in the treatment of wounds with high bacterial load or infected wounds. Also as a supplementary infection prophylaxis in wound treatment.

Contraindications: None known. Since Atrauman Ag does not adhere to the skin, it can be challenging to fixate the dressing, for example, on the underside of the leg. The easiest way is to first place the silver dressing on the secondary dressing and then apply both to the wound. If no secondary dressing is needed, the silver dressing can be secured with a gauze bandage.

Before treating heavily bacterial-loaded or infected wounds, a medical assessment is necessary. A silver dressing can never replace wound cleansing. The wound should be cleansed if it contains necrosis, fibrin, or pus formations; otherwise, these will disrupt the dressing's function. Treatment with a silver dressing can never replace antibiotic treatment. Atrauman Ag should not be used in combination with paraffin-based ointments, as they reduce the dressing's effectiveness.

Material: Grid of polyamide fibers surrounded by elemental silver and impregnated with an ointment based on triglycerides. The ointment contains: Caprylic/Capric/Stearic Triglyceride, Bisdiglyceryl-polyacyladipate-2, and Macrogol 2000. (Analog INCI). The silver content is equivalent to 30-50 mg/100 cm2. The product is classified as a medical device, class IIb, sterile. CE-marked according to EU Directive 93/42/EEC.
